The main strength
'To design our Holiday programme, we used the school based model which has been developed by the SPZA, and had a great result especially in the Zwelihle community (Hermanus community). The main strength of this model is to base the Holiday Programme within a primary school – using the venue and the materialof the school – and having access to the children and to the teachers of that school to ensure sustainability’. 'Alnoor is a registered orphanage in Woodstock, Cape Town, Republic of South Africa, taking in mostly underprivileged children from different religious groups in the Western Cape. The Home started using the Stichting Projecten Zuid-Africa’s Holiday Schools Model in June 2009.The Stichting Projecten Zuid-Afrika’s Holiday School Model comes with an easy to implement manual that takes one through all the steps. Alnoor has followed the programme step by step with a few adaptations and it is with great pleasure to endorse it as a child friendly, easy to implement and cost effective model that ensures that every child enjoys a fun filled holiday. Caregivers and volunteers are happy using the model and are urging other institutions to use it too. The principles underlying this model are African (not foreign) and are founded on respect, fairness and justice. Alnoor will continue using the model as long as it cannot afford to take the children to Disneyland.'
